About the role

As the Head of People for LanzaTech, you will be responsible for developing and executing global human resource strategy that aligns with the vision of our growing international business. You’ll work directly with other executives and the board of directors and will influence employee experience throughout the company and in all aspects of the employee life cycle.

You will manage the HR team and partner with the Sr Manager of HR and other LT leaders in support of the company’s strategic goals, while maintaining and even expanding on the culture of LanzaTech. As a seasoned global leader you will use your experience managing diverse employee populations to work effectively across borders, languages, cultures, navigating local work norms and compliance issues globally.


You will build and maintain effective working relationships, trust and respect at all levels.

Key duties

  • Participate in developing the organization's 3-5 year roadmap as a strategic partner, to support team members across the organization and prepare for long-term success
  • Develop client relationships with and provide strategic human resources direction to LanzaTech business leaders  and employees.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR Team to effectively manage talent acquisition, training and development, performance management, total rewards, employee relations, and compliance globally.
  • Ensure culture is a significant consideration when making HR decisions.
  • Leadership in employee relations and problem-solving and active management of performance issues to resolution.
  • Lead vision on strategic staffing, performance and retention management, compliance with laws/regulations
  • Assess progress against company EEO goals.
  • Continually assess the competitiveness of all compensation and culture-related programs and practices against relevant comparable companies, industries, and markets.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in HR or related; Master’s degree/ MBA preferred.
  • 10-15 years of HR experience in both domestic and global capacities.
  • Public Company experience.
  • Experience designing and administering an integrated approach to global compensation, benefits, rewards, and long-term incentive programs and ensuring alignment with business strategy.
  • Experience leading HR initiatives for company expansion and setting up Global entities/ branches.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed focus on execution.
  • Prior experience with managing intense periods of significant company growth.
  • An experienced HR professional with sound technical skills. Generalist and Management background with broad knowledge of global employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations and training.
  • Prior experience supporting employees with an engineering/scientific/technical background is a must; prior experience in the chemicals/ refining technology sector is a plus
  • Resourceful and well organized. High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Superior ability to communicate, influence, persuade, build trust, and gain the confidence of and advise all levels of the organization up to and including the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Flexible and adaptive; embraces the challenges of change.
  • 15% travel required.
